Short answer: from 1 April 2026, the main OZEV chargepoint grants pay up to £500 per socket. They’re open to renters, flat owners, homes with only on-street parking, landlords and businesses. Homeowners in a house with their own drive don’t qualify. All the schemes are funded until 31 March 2027.

Renters and flat owners
This is the grant most of our home customers use. You need private off-street parking that’s yours to use, such as an allocated bay or a drive. If you rent, you also need your landlord’s permission. If you own a flat, you’ll usually need the freeholder or management company to agree to the cable route.
Some homes that don’t look like flats still count. Tyneside flats in Newcastle and “top and bottom” houses in Calderdale are good examples.
No driveway? The cross-pavement grant
If you park on the street outside your house, you can’t legally trail a charging cable across the pavement. A cross-pavement solution fits a covered channel into the pavement so the cable runs safely below the surface. It needs council approval.
We’re a Kerbo Charge partner installer. Kerbo Charge handles the channel and the council application, and we fit the charger. The cross-pavement grant can then take up to £500 off. It depends on your council and street, so we check before you spend anything.
Landlords
Landlords can claim up to £500 per socket across up to 200 sockets. A charger can make a property easier to let, and as more tenants switch to electric cars it’s becoming a reason to choose one home over another. We also handle landlord EICRs and compliance work, so it can be done in one visit.
Businesses: the Workplace Charging Scheme
Businesses, charities and public sector bodies can claim up to £500 per socket for up to 40 sockets. Registered businesses that operate from home can sometimes qualify too. Eligibility depends on the details, so we check it with you before you commit. See our commercial electrical work.
How claiming works
- Check eligibility. We go through the criteria with you on the survey.
- Apply. You register through the government grant pages. We tell you exactly what you need.
- Wait for approval. OZEV usually assesses applications within 10 working days. Don’t install before approval.
- We install and claim. We fit the charger, take the required photos and submit the claim. The grant comes off your price.
Grant details checked against GOV.UK in October 2026. Schemes can change, so we confirm the current rules when you book.
