Installers who know Halifax homes

We cover Halifax and Calderdale for home EV chargers, including Sowerby Bridge, Elland and up the valley to Hebden Bridge.

Calderdale has some of the most unusual housing we work on. Hebden Bridge and Sowerby Bridge have “top and bottom” houses, where one home sits on top of another on a steep slope. These count as flats, so owners may qualify for the £500 government grant. Elsewhere in Halifax it’s mostly stone terraces and older semis on hills, so we look closely at where the car parks and how the cable gets there.

What’s included

  • RiponEV Pro 7.4kW smart charger with app, Wi-Fi and load balancing
  • Up to 10m of cable, isolator and protection device
  • Testing, certificate and notification
  • App set-up and a walkthrough before we leave
  • OZEV grant paperwork, if you qualify

No driveway? We’re a Kerbo Charge partner installer, so on-street homes can charge from their own supply. See kerbside charging.

Recent install in Halifax

A tethered RiponEV smart charger on the front of a rendered terrace in Halifax, set just above the dark brick plinth beside the path where the car parks. Like a lot of Halifax homes, the meter is in the cellar, so the supply runs neatly down the whitewashed cellar wall to its own connection box and then out through the wall to the charger. That keeps the cable out of sight instead of across the front of the house. Tested, set up on the app and ready to charge the same day.

Tested and commissioned before we leave

Every charger is tested with a dedicated EV test adaptor, set up on your phone app and checked charging before we hand over. The supply gets its own isolator and protection, labelled with our details and your next inspection date.

  • Untethered or tethered, with or without a display
  • App set up on your phone with you
  • Certificate and paperwork emailed

EV charger questions

I own a top-and-bottom house in Hebden Bridge. Can I get the grant?

Quite possibly. The OZEV grant for flat owners pays up to £500 if you own and live in a flat and have your own off-street parking. Many over-and-under houses count as flats. We check your eligibility before you book and handle the claim as an OZEV approved installer.

How much does an EV charger cost to install in Halifax?

Our RiponEV Pro smart charger is £1,195 fully installed with up to 10m of cable. Longer runs are £100 per extra 5m up to 20m. You get a fixed price after the survey, so there are no surprises on the day.

Can I get the OZEV grant?

The OZEV EV chargepoint grant gives up to £500 per socket to renters, flat owners, landlords and workplaces. Homeowners in a house with their own drive aren’t eligible. We check your eligibility and handle the claim for you as an OZEV approved installer (no. 13887).

How long does installation take?

Most home installs are done in a single visit. Jobs needing a consumer unit upgrade or long cable runs can take longer, and we tell you that at survey stage.

Do I need a survey first?

Yes. You can book a short video survey at a time that suits you. We look at your consumer unit, meter position and where the car parks, then give you a fixed written price.

Does the charger work with Intelligent Octopus Go?

No, our chargers aren’t compatible with Intelligent Octopus Go. They work with timed EV tariffs such as standard Octopus Go: you set the charge schedule in the app to match your cheap-rate hours.

I don’t have a driveway. Can I still charge at home?

Often, yes. We’re a Kerbo Charge partner installer. Kerbo Charge fits a cross-pavement channel so your cable runs safely across the pavement, and they manage the council application. Once your council approves it, we fit the charger. Households with only on-street parking can also claim a government cross-pavement grant of up to £500 until 31 March 2027. It depends on your council and street, so we check before you commit.

Who will install it?

A SmartWired electrician who holds the Level 3 EV charging qualification. We’re NAPIT approved and TrustMark registered, and we’ve been trading for over 20 years.
