About us
How long has SmartWired been trading?
Over 20 years, from our base at Mabgate in Leeds.
Are you insured and registered?
Yes. We’re fully insured, NAPIT approved, TrustMark registered and BAFE registered for fire alarm work. Ask and we’ll send you our insurance details.
Who will do the work?
Our own electricians. Where a trainee works on your job, a qualified, registered electrician checks and tests everything before it’s signed off.
Which areas do you cover?
Leeds, Yorkshire and surrounding areas for electrical work, Yorkshire, Lancashire and the North East for EV chargers, and 24/7 emergency call-outs across Leeds.
Prices and payment
Do you give fixed prices?
Yes. You get a written price before we start. If something unexpected turns up, we show you and agree the price before doing any extra work.
Can I get an EV charger without a driveway?
Often, yes. We’re a Kerbo Charge partner installer. Kerbo Charge fits a cross-pavement channel and manages the council application, and we fit your charger once it’s approved. It depends on your council, so we check your street before you commit.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. Board changes, rewires and EV chargers are available on 0% finance over 6, 9 or 12 months, subject to status. See our finance page for details.
Do you take a deposit?
A £99 deposit secures your install date on board changes, rewires and EV chargers, including when you pay on finance. It comes off your final bill.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months, and products carry the manufacturer’s warranty, which is up to 3 years on our EV chargers.
Safety and regulations
Do I need permission for electrical work?
Some work, such as a new circuit or a board change, is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. As NAPIT members we notify building control for you and you get a certificate. For bigger building work, also check with your local authority.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. Every job is tested and you get the right certificate, either an Electrical Installation Certificate or a Minor Works Certificate, plus a building control notice for notifiable work.
How do I know if my wiring has a problem?
Warning signs include burning smells, buzzing or crackling, hot sockets or switches, lights flickering, and a board that keeps tripping. An EICR tells you for certain.
What are the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations?
BS 7671, the British Standard that all electrical installations in homes and businesses must meet. We work and test to the current edition.
